High Heels & Fetish
High heels are often the subject of fetishism among men, more so than any other form of footwear. It is believed that a high heel fetish, or simply an attraction to high heels, is formed in infancy when the child spends a great deal of time crawling around at his mother’s feet. If the child experiences something highly arousing during this time (not sexually arousing, just a general arousal of the senses) it is believed that a predilection towards high heels could very easily develop. This is also an accepted explanation because there aren’t really any others that make a great deal of sense and this one is very logical.
High heels are so often singled out as a footwear fetish for a few distinct reasons. The first is that high heels happen to be worn with great frequency, especially in situations where a woman is trying to make herself look attractive. Therefore high heels are automatically associated with sex appeal and good looks, even if the brain of the person making that association is still developing. Once that association is made enough times it becomes ingrained in the mind and high heels are forever associated with sex appeal. If you look at a lingerie catalog or a porn site you’ll see that almost every girl is wearing a pair of high heels. The other reason that people fetishize them so often is directly tied into this fact. High heels were designed to make a woman look better (they certainly weren’t designed for comfort). The shape of the shoe and the height of the heel serve to elongate the calf of a woman and make her butt look tighter, firmer, and higher. Both of these things make a woman’s body more attractive at first glance so it’s no great surprise that men fetishize something that does such wonders.
The porn industry has certainly furthered the popularity of high heels, but it’s difficult to tell whether they started the trend of if they were just capitalizing on a trend that was already in place. Either way, you can’t really watch an adult film nowadays without seeing several women in high heels, if not all of them. High heels, stiletto heels in particular, have become a part of the costume for any form of media that’s trying to communicate a woman in a dominant position. Even in mainstream TV the powerful women are shown wearing high heels (especially if they’re also using their sex appeal as a way to gain or hold onto power). Once again though I don’t think this is necessarily a bad trend. High heels make a woman look great so why shouldn’t she take advantage of that fact.
